Google Protests SOPA, and Brings up DMCA

Everyone knows about the huge SOPA blackout, where Wikipedia shut down for a day, and Google showed protester’s support. Now Google is beginning to censor filed copyright infringements with DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act). This means that a site will be blocked on Google’s search if someone has filed a copyright infringement report on it.

Google can do whatever they want with their own business, and they own a huge number of internet queries. The main problem is that there have been false filings on copyright infringement, leading to wrongful blocking of sites. There’s not much we can do about this, because Google is providing its service, which is legal, it’s just that their service has changed now.

I suggest we find an alternative such as bing. The drop in Google users, if large enough, will cause them to realize that the DMCA is not an option. DMCA is a good idea, but adjustments are a necessity.

“Our strategy should be not only to confront empire, but to lay siege to it. To deprive it of oxygen. To shame it. To mock it. With our art, our music, our literature, our stubbornness, our joy, our brilliance, our sheer relentlessness – and our ability to tell our own stories. Stories that are different from the ones we’re being brainwashed to believe.
The corporate revolution will collapse if we refuse to buy what they are selling – their ideas, their version of history, their wars, their weapons, their notion of inevitability.
Remember this: We be many and they be few. They need us more than we need them.
Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.”

An updated summary of the charming record of US foreign policy. Since the end of the Second World War, the United States of America has …
1. Attempted to overthrow more than 50 governments, most of which were democratically-elected.2. Attempted to suppress a populist or nationalist movement in 20 countries.3. Grossly interfered in democratic elections in at least 30 countries.4. Dropped bombs on the people of more than 30 countries.5. Attempted to assassinate more than 50 foreign leaders.
In total: Since 1945, the United States has carried out one or more of the above actions, on one or more occasions, in the following 69 countries (more than one-third of the countries of the world):
If you’re American and aren’t aware of why your government isn’t popular with the rest of the world here is why!

What is ACTA Exactly?

Some of you probably aren’t too sure of what ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) is.

If you’re anything like me, you have a short attention span, and don’t feel like reading much, even though you want to help out.

ACTA, to dumb it down, basically forces all internet providers to trace your browsing and history. It also wants to censor certain web pages, and figures of expression. Even simpler, a worse SOPA.

Those sneaky bastards were forming ACTA while everyone was protesting SOPA. But, they keep underestimating the power of the people. Act on ACTA.
